Issla's Journal followup

Things are a lot easier in this century, you really have no need to hunt. Go to a goth club and everybody offers you their neck. These kids think that by being bitten they will be turned, not so. The only thing a vampire was offered where I came from was a stake in the heart or having my head removed from my shoulders. Robert and Michael have the power to heal so getting some stranger to give blood is a snap. I'm also learning about this internet thing. Since I hadn't left the pyramid in 50 years, I've missed out on a lot. Elsa has been the light to my darkness. If not for her, I don't know where I'd be, probably dead from the bastard that killed Grandfather. The last place I remember was London in 1951. Well, it's time to leave, Elsa and I are having dinner with Robert and Michael. I'm anxious to see what becomes of this.

Vampire Reflections

When I think of my needs over the past 3,000 years, it's been a fairly lonely existence. I've had my grandfather here at the pyramid up until a few days ago when he was murdered by my uncle. When I was born, a Trueblood like my parents before me, the thirst for blood was immediate. For a hundred years all I thought of was food. I had the love of my parents who died long before their time, thanks to the Hunters, but I started feeling the need for a companion. I had no friends, because when your born a Princess everyone acts like your friend, there's no sincerity in the relationships. The other vampires fear and respect you, mostly fear you. My search for a companion lead me to Alexander The Great and our secret love was kept even from his best friend. In 334 BC, I decided to enter a Blood Pact with him and having never done this before, I accidently killed him. I never could stop feeding once I started and it was very necessary to do that when making the pact. He was there and then he was gone! I didn't leave enough life in him to react with my blood. A Blood Pact can only be accomplished through the act of intercourse and shared feeding, then the magic takes over. I screwed up and swore I'd never try again and for over 2,800 years of loneliness, I never did. A vampire needs more than just blood to exist in immortality and lonliness sets in for us as it does for humans. Love does make the world an easier place to live in, not just exist in.
